Dear Gamers.IRC users
as some of you are known to use a preview version of Windows 7 (otherwise should be better to get Windows 7 Ultimate for cheap), we’d like to advise you that Gamers.IRC is not yet prepared to work with this Windows version if the User Account Control is enabled during the Gamers.IRC installation!
To make sure that your Gamers.IRC installation will work correctly anyway, please follow these steps before you start Gamers.IRC the first time:
- Call the „Run“ dialog by pressing the hotkey Windows+R. Enter %APPDATA% there.
- If the opened folder doesn’t have a subfolder named mIRC, you’ll have to create it by right-clicking into the folder and choosing the „New“ submenu.
- Move your Gamers.IRC folder’s contents – by default it should be in C:\Program Files\Gamers.IRC – except the files mIRC.exe and bin/mdx/views.mdx into the newly created subfolder.
Remember to create a backup first!
Gamers.IRC should work correctly on Windows 7 with UAC if you applied these changes. However we can’t fully support the new operating system yet, so everything you do is at your own risk.
